Kohie: im no expert, but for me it depends a bit were i start. If im sampling something old, as you know, they were often recording with no metronom. MPC Ren OR Studio
Im in a moving out of the house progress at the time so i had to move my analog studio. I normally use MPC 2500 but i got the mpc ren now for checking. I really like the hardware unit, but the software isnt that good, and yeah, the baby bugs are there. I guess the MPC ren will be good after some... -

Adding basslines
Im no expert, but for finding keys i try to listend, and hold a steady humming that goes threw the whole beat Whitout sounding off, that humm is your key, now find that hum on your keyboard and play the scale. The nice thing for me is to then find the minor parallel off that hum and then play... -
