    Throes of Affliction

Great use of descending and ascending motion in the lower piano. Drums are absolutely banging! Again, not a trap person myself, but this goes!

    Stop Motion Inspired Beats

Everything about this is super dope... ...except the bass. Not sure if that was a creative choice, but I'm not feeling it. Sorry bruh. Weird, creative, interesting....and definitely unique.

some place to be prod.by LA.ZO intro by RBX

Great tune! Love how you used asymmetric beats. Really gives this tune it's own character. While it has that old school west coast feel, it still fresh and interesting. I don't think 808s really fit, and a punchy vinyl kick would definitely give this a dope groove. Digging this tune!

    Chalkboard - Classical Music Flip

Serious RZA vibes on this! Love the intro and the way you chopped the vibrato and plucked strings. To InsideOut's point - the bass sounds like it may be in stereo or have some sort of chorus on it. Having it centred in the mix will definitely help with it's presence and punch. Would love to...

    IT WASNT

This literally has elements of all my favourite genres/styles of hip-hop! Drum breaks, vocal chops, synths....you got everything in there. That being said, the bass line seems off key? Not sure if thats some synth modulation or what, but it sounds a bit out of place. It's a nice line, just...

    Outcry

I'll start with "I'm not really a trap fan" That being said, there are some cool melodies, sound design, and textures here. Leading with that glide bass is a great way to get the listener hooked. That echo texture that comes in at 0:14 is super cool. Nice mix decision to pan it. Would be cool...

    MPC Boom Bap Beat

Hey All, Been a while... ...I've been working on a funk/house record (that should hopefully be done by year's end). Took a break from all the "4 on-the-floor" and got back to my hip-hop roots. Having lots of fun writing entire on the MPC 1000. I started with a simple Horns and Rhodes loop I...

    What gear is everybody rocking?

Which version of Cubase are you using? I always loved it as a DAW. My high school had a MIDI studio that ran VST 32. I started on 3 then SX. I know Cubase/Steinberg had some dark days, but it really looks like a great platform now. I went with Logic due to the integration with Mac and the price.

    2000xl drift

Assuming the tracks/sequence programming is similar on the 2000XL as my 1000....I really hate that whenever I create a new sequence, it defaults back to 120bpm.

Don't Phase me Bro- by CouchTrAx

love the intro...hypnotizing, lofi and ambient. Said it before, but I DO NOT like trap...hence...these drums don't do it for me. That being said the trilly/verbed out clap/snare on the last beat of each phrase is very effective. that bell/pad that comes in at 0:47 could use some automation...

Here is something I recently worked on, I hope you all enjoy!

Love the asymmetric drums/percussion. It's very difficult to get out of typical "straight" grooves and I admire anyone who does it as tastefully as this. I like the bass and subtle use of pitch shift/mod. The keys serve as the back-bone of this track and I really like the old school tape...

    What gear is everybody rocking?

I like the build quality and connectivity. My particular unit is over 10 years old (bought used from first owner) and feels solid with no evidence of excessive wear. It has MIDI In/Out/Thru which is great for adding into a chain of hardware and by virtue or being "pre-USB" it's incredibly...

    What gear is everybody rocking?

My local pawn shop had a 660 a few years back. Regret not picking it up. Love that you have them both!

Omar Khorshid - "Rakset El Fadaa"

Snare absolutely slaps!! The bass is nice as well. That organ chord in the background helps add gravity and bounce. The vocal chops are great and there's some cool atmosphere here. The deep brassy sounding stabs really beef up the vibe of the track (as do the distorted guitars). This is a very...

Omar Khorshid - "Rakset El Fadaa"

Drums have that gritty boom-bap feel. Just listening to the song, I can imagine that the time stretching and getting clean loops would be a bit of challenge. You nailed it and make it sound natural...not too much aliasing or obvious contortion of the sample to get it to fit. My only critique...

    Sidechaining/ducking.

A cool technique to really get a sharper/tighter sidechain is by using a ghost trigger, specifically a wave form. Most any synth has tempo-synced LFOs or wave tables. Load up an instance of Massive (or synth of choice) create a basic sine wave and sync it to your tempo. Essentially, get it...

We're Alive! - (but how many are truly living?)

I don't want to be a dead horse, so I'll try not to repeat any points of feedback already brought up. There are few things that stick out to me. And I'll try to be as objective about it as possible. 1) Lacks directions, pianos, squealchy bass patch, vocal sample, stiff kicks. Neither of...

    blessed

Intro is super cool! I like the use of micro-chopping and complexity of it together. I get some Pretty Lights/RJD2/Justice vibes from it. Reverb/Compression and quick fades will help glue it together a bit more. I get the over all aesthetic of having it choppy, but it does need a bit of...

    Declik- Emmouni 006 ( beat/instru)

Electronica/Pop That's the genre I'd put it in. The drums are very trap/dub, but that style has been pretty heavily co-opted by the mainstream at this point. Also, the chord progression is very alt-pop in nature. I could easily hear Imagine Dragons or something of the sort on this. Speaking of...

Tear this apart for me please....

Only because you asked... ...please don't take any of this personally and appreciate these notes are purely my opinion and are not gospel. The mix needs work. The intro synths sounds like they might be clipping/distorting. The two lines are fighting for space. May be worth experimenting...
