What do you want the midi keyboard for? To play like a piano, or for it's sounds? If you want it just for the sounds, cop the rack mount and use your maudio or triggerfinger to play the sounds. With that and the correct software, you'll essentially have an mpc and then some.

P.S.

Do a search. The triggerfinger, mpc, and m-audio are famous here!!!

The trigger finger has a nice feel for drums. I'd recomend that, and a keystation 88es (by Maudio as well). Its a nice cheap 88-key keyboard with semiweighted keys. Should only set you back $500 incl tax for both.

just get a good midi keyboard and your cool

you don't REALLY need the Trigger Frigger pads, just use your midi keyboard keys

The trigger finger is cool for drums, however if you are looking for melodies I'd go with the radium 49. Both made by m-audio, I own both and the setup is great! I enjoy banging out drums and percussion, but I prefer the feel of the keys to lay my pianos, strings, synths even some basslines. The trigger finger goes for $200, the radium 49 for $150 (via guitar center) My advice is go for both for only $350 it'll be worth it, however if you can only afford one for now I think the radium is easier/better/more enjoyable overall. Holla if you have questions via aim @ bobyelenak. peace.
