Are you against breakbeats comps ?

Lots of producers think they're somewhat "violated" by people who release them...

Personally I'm not really against them (they're a good way to find out a sample source) but it's also true that they may force producers to go through the often long and costly process of sample clearing...

I have nothing against breakbeat compilations.

I don't understand why producers are violated by these. Its the producers who are using someone else's work and if they don't have sample clearance, its the original source that is being violated. What if the original source doesn't like Hip-Hop or doesn't wish to be associated with the culture or the artist sampling them. Also, if you're using someones else's work to get yourself a hit, they should be compensated, which is usually also a part of the sample clearance contract.
If you use the sample in such a way that it isn't recognizable, then it doesn't matter but otherwise...

breakbeat comps are gay.
for sampling that is.
but if all you want to do is to hear the originals
and enjoy the music, it's a whole different thing.
but one thing that i can't understand is some of these
"sampled by" -records having wrong tracks on them,
or having the credits all wrong. on one comp (can't remember
what) that i listened through in a store, there was
"bumpy's lament" that they claimed was the isaac hayes original,
although the lead melody was played with a guitar.
so i just wrote down the track names and left the record
on the rack.
