Just like what was said by Mike Golic....
"Don't blame the Yankees, blame all the other teams that are scared to spend the money on marquee players"
Makes sense...Yankees worry about winning, they will do what it takes to do so....9 years w/o a championship is a very long time in the eyes of a Steinbrenner.
Teams in big markets (Chicago, LA, even St. Louis and teams in Texas) can spend the money but do not know how to fill their seats....
Yankees market themselves very very well....people wear NY merchandise even if they are NOT Yankees fans....
It is a business...to regulate what a business pays it's employees is ridiculous....I would understand not paying them enough....but too much? As long as the business is thriving, how cares how big these contracts are...
We still pay for the outrageous ticket prices.....wanna make a change? Don't go to any games....don't buy their merchandise...don't watch the games on TV....Since people collectively cannot do that...the Yankees will continue to "buy" it's championships..
