OK first off I know there are otoher threads on this, and I know it's a newbie question.

But I have tried using Adobe Audition's Equalizer and the Center Channel Extractor, I've played around with them whithout getting any good results. Is there any other program/ technique that might help me with this?

^^^then you failed to understand that this never works 100% as you will always pick up frequencies belonging to the instruments used in the piece you're trying to rip.

It will only work on a track made by Phil Spector or Grindcore, with a lot of noise those frequencies will be hardly audible.

lol!

then how do these other producers get all those good acapellas? do they just go off and cop them?

You cop em indeed but there could be lots of ways to get them, I assume if you pay for use of the sample you could ask the label for the recording data and use the vocaltracks. Maybe they're just lucky getting the right material, usable clean vocals in accapella parts of a track etc.

they buy the records. Records have the full song, the instrumentals and the acapellas (most of them, not all of them). It's for DJ's who mix songs and stuff, but you can buy the record and record the acapella from that. I've also heard of a place called ******** or something to download acapellas from. You gotta pay like 15 but I think it'd be worth it if your really into remixing.

Yeah but I'm talking bout those old acapellas from the 70's and those type of instrumentals. Can I cop those too off records?

I got a lot of old acapellas on record. Most of them aren't really the true acapella, it's just eq'ed up and you can still hear some frequencies. You just gotta really dig for them old acapellas. They also sell records with a bunch of old acapellas on them too. You can check out www.beatstreet.com and see if they have any.
