Yo whats the Best MPC series out there?

I got the MPC60, with the 3.10 software upgrade which makes it the 3000 series. Wouldn't trade it in for nothin

Noticed theres a lot of 2000 series users in here. How would u rate yours?

It's a tight sequencer, they all are. But price/usability wise, I'd say the 1k is great n small, credible enough for us all.

Too bad it doesn't runn on batteries.

I think theres a lot of 2K users because thats about the only MPC you can get used for almost $500 (right now). I dont know if i could decide which one i think is the best. But faint's setup is hot.

I had the mpc 2k and used it for awhile I don't know whether features or sound quality are the most important....I was focused on the sounds because that's biggest debate between the 3000, the 4000 and mpc2k and XL.....I read an article I think either on havoc or some producer and his take was that when it comes to the finished product he didn't have a hangup about the differences.....that might also be because if you have one of these machines correctly setup up thru your mixer all of the punch...bass and bottom differences can be made to sound EXACTLY the same.....so I think that people that don't have access to mixers might notice that sounds might be punchier or deeper because of the difference of internal processing......when you listen to them side by side...I hear the argument between the mpc60II&S950 rack equivalent......I had the s950 and I would say I could use a mixer connected to my mpc2k and tweak it to sound almost the same as the what came out the s950.....I did notice though that my sp1200 & sp12 however have certain sound or punch and bottom that I could not get out of my mpc or s950......even if you sampled the sp1200 to the mpc.........

That analogues devices DAC makes the difference from EMU and Akai. Best mpc setup is one with a good sampler, in that case a mpc2k in combo with a S3000 would be sounding like the mpc3k, same for the mpc2k with the s950. The mpc60 with the upgrade would also equal the S3000 ( later upgrade was made by either Tom Oberheim or Roger Linn, I remember that Emu also had a share upon some upgrades n fixes upon the mpc60 ). Im definitly happy with the mpc2k on the S750 and the other mpc2k on a Emu Esi4000/Esi2000 ( with Turbo ). Ones for the dirty sound and the Esi's are for the more clinical sound. All the fx etc are bull, just plain midi and use external fx, that the best thing around any mpc, thus it's strong point. Im thinking of swapping the Esi for a Z8 in combo with mpc, logic. Currently I have high expectations on that combo. And for grainy sound Im about to look into a S220 by roland, also an oldy but perfect for hiphop.
