Whats a good cheap firewire? or do I need somthing else?

Actually its not for me its for a friend (cliche), this lady at work, her husband palys guitar and I dont know what software hes using but she wants to be able to give him somthing to be able to record with.
For a gov employee on a budget, probably ordering off the internet, what can you guys recommend for a full set up?
I think he plays R&B or somthing I gotta ask somemore but should she go to sweetwater and get what?
Or musicians friend and get what?

....line6 has dope 2 or 1 channel guitar/line pres with asio support and some good sounding cab modelers
for el cheapo, dont think theyre firewire but if hes only recording a mono track at a time then theres no need for massive datastream support, he'll be just fine.

I responded to this post back in Nov. 2007 asking for a Sweetwater Catalog. Funny thing is... almost 4 years later, dp no longer works there, I'm still getting the catalog and still buying ish from Sweetwater. I think that I've purchased something new from Sweetwater every month this year from them. Half amazing, half crazy!
