Illmuzik is the first hip hop site i signed up for. The only reson i got a soundclick page was to post beats in the showcase.

Anyway i ventured on to the soundclick formus for the first time today and I must say we really got it good over here.
The quality of production and creativity is horrible. Im never one to be negative or hate on another man's work, but come on. That shit was awful. Plus there was no constructive criticism. I went to the alchmesitbeats forums and I got the same results on their forums.

Why do u think the qualtiy of production and criticism is so much higher at illmuzik opposed to other sites?? Why do we tend to have more creative and talanted producers here???

FYI, im not trying to turn this into an illmuzik love fest, I honestly want to know becasue I have to write a 30 page paper about online communties. So please drop comments.

Illmuzik has been gathering the most talented producers\emcees for years now... one reason for that is the fairly strict moderating (which usually does not allow\tolerate nonsense and crap), while another reason can be the serious attitude that most people show around here. even though it might seem like the boards are being over controlled and monitored, eventually it is being done for the sake of the forum. we want to keep this place clean and sterile... constructive criticism is indeed a problem on other forums. way too many people got a very narrow minded attitude, and thus, they do not open themselves for new sounds and ideas. anyhow, good luck with the paper :thumb:

Yeah, the thing here is the right balence has been struck between not taking any crap but still having fun and learning. As a moderator/member/Ad. Rep., I take proud in the site, the quality of people and the vast range of knowledge from software to hardware is to be unfound anywhere on the net. I can stay the site speaks for it's self. We all tip our hats to Fade, the creator and icon of the site. Also w/ that to note. Take G.O.D. for example, the rep. and quality of the site even carries over into "THE INDUSTRY"...It's w/o any question that illmuzik is second to none, and there's still room for us to always improve and grow. So members as your duty, continue to also moderate and leave comments for the site, so that we can all improve, becuase we're fam. and fam. must look out for ea. other.

yea, i definitely think it's due to the moderators. i mean, how many times have we seen someone come on here talking all big and bad saying, "yo, i'm the hottest producer ever, maybe y'all can learn something from me!" i can remember that happening a few times. where somebody came on and in the introductions said they were gonna teach us all a thing or two about producing. and then Fade just slapped em in the mouth and said, bitch! shut up! and either that kept them in line, or they kept talking crap and they got banned. i think thats one reason we are a lot closer. is because everyone here is serious about making music and serious about accepting criticism and learning. we know that no matter how good we are, there's always room for improvement and just because someone doesn't like your beat or thinks you could better it, doesn't mean it's a personal attack on you. that's my explanation. when you get hundreds of people talking crap, there is no such thing as a community. not to mention the openness of the individuals here. i think that The Lounge forum functions as one of the central points in building a functional music community. If you have a place where you can share personal problems or just talk about other interests, that helps bond people together even further. So in conclusion, i would say that the intelligent moderation of posts, the attitudes of the members here at illmuzik, and the multiple ways the site helps promote sharing not only music, but ideas and experiences is what makes Illmuzik what it is.

personally, i only tell good people about this site. i don't go screaming it to everyone. the cats that i really deal with on an artistic level are here and come thru here. and when someone improper appears here, the members attack before the mods do most times. the members want to keep it good here. thats what makes the difference to me

Most people usually read the content....there's not a lot of bullshidd in the posts....partly due to moderators but more so due to group thought and meaningful discussions discouraging bullshidd and someone instantly catching it from the members.....and most of the people in here for the most part are pretty knowledgeble.....I mean why do you think I would be a member for as long as I have ?????? so what if you don't agree with someone as long as you can either skillfully carry someone or make them shudd tha fugg up...thatz what I like as long as the moderators don't become, you know like your mother.....Illmuzik is the The best SITE on the "Enternet"

OK guys i see that u think its the moderation that really dictates the site and helps keep the qualitiy of people here good. I also that meaningful discussions and serious musicans are also what makes this site great.

WHat do u think makes illmuzik a community instead of just a FAQ message board. I have been on MPC-forums.com and they have lots of useful and helpfule people but its not a community like hear at illmuzik.

Do u think its the contests, showcase, lab,?????

Basically what do u think is the heart of illmuzik

I think the poll on the main page says it all, when I looked, 0% of the people were in it for the money... the contests and showcase are defintely boosters...but it's the people... If you dont like the people you will not come back...plain and simple... the contents of the pages always stay fresh, that too allows for people to come back often, it's like the news... it they only gave you updates, every wk. why would you watch it... are turn back to that channel.....

i think it's partly the showcase because you get interested in each other's styles and shit and you can't wait for that new guy to bust out a phat beat or whatever. i think it's also just the attitudes of the people here. this site attracts people who are open and cool. so that helps keep everybody laughing and having fun. i think the showcase definitely helps in another way. like, being able to pass judgment on other people's beats is important. because you really feel like your encouraging and helping that person to become a better producer. and having a place where you know you can put out your beat for critique and receive useful feedback, not just, "THAT BEAT SUCKED DICK! TRY AGAIN BEEEEOTCH!" that helps as well. because you become closer knit. it's all good.

yeah, real feedback is a huge plus... one thing i would like to add is the fact that the interactions from the toop to the bottom is even across the board.

meaning, the guys with skills dont just diss the new kids who dont know anything for not being as good as they are. there is always a real and honest attempt to help people when they have problems or questions and simply wants to get better.
