Vinage Pro Keys as Controll Keyboard?

does any one here own this? how is it as a controll keyboard? the reason i ask is because i really covet the module that this came from, but i also need a better controll keyboard (i got this cheap casio to controll my Motif Rack for a $100, and, boy did i get what i paid for!) and so i figure it would save me around $400 to make this my controller. also, does anyone own this and a motif rack? i think the rack has a good array of vintage sounds, but i would think that a module dedicated to this would offer much more, with that 512 presets to the 150 or so in my motif rack.

Hey,

When looking for a controller, I always like to make sure that it has thefollowing:

1. Semi wieghted keys. Light keys feel like a toy, weighted are too heavy for me.

2. Velocity sensitive. An absolute must for me, otherwise all my sounds are static when I play them.

3. Pitch/modulation wheel. You can use these for all sorts of things if you know how.

4. Aftertouch sensitive. This isn't as critical because not all synth patches are programmed to respond to aftertouch...but when they are, you'll be glad you can take advantage of it.

...then you should be absolutely fine for a controller. I played with the rack version, in my opinion the sounds weren't any more 'vintage' than anything else. There are plenty of techno and acoustic sounds on it as well, this combined with the Motif will give you a tasty palate of sounds to choose from.

thanks... i think that that is what i am going to do.....have you heard the demo, demo two? that first set is NICE.... i am trying to recreate a similar set on the motif, but because my controller SUCKS, it doesnt sound to good, and the strings are a bit limited.... but they are excellent. i love the organs... i think the only other racks i will get will be a xv 5050, a vp 9000 (i keep hearing bad things, but the sampler and the technology is awesome....... what are your thoughts on that piece? you are one of the most knowledgable in here i think..... i love the feedback you give everyone...) and the vintage keys keyboard with the b3, world, and z roms........ i want the rolandfor the string expansions and pianos.... i just like a variety....

I usually stay clear of synth demos, they always sound like gay coctail jazz music programmed by Japanese businessmen...Emu is an American company, maybe theirs are different.

The 5050 is a very nice piece of gear, if you decide to get one, make sure to get a copy of Sound Diver to program it, the Roland editor is crap.

I've only heard two things about the VP9000:

1. It's a way over priced 6-voice sampler.
2. The 6 voices sound SWEET.

I know that places are blowing them out, you should be able to score one pretty nicely if you look around.

I know a lot about gear and software, I know nothing at all about hip-hop...
