can anyone chime in on using these sites? cd baby seems like a good deal, but ive heard of cats having problems getting the digital distro setup where tunecore doesnt seem to have that problem.. but cd baby sells physical cd as well as downloads so it seems a lil bit better from that perspective.. if anyone can hop and share experiences with either of these two distibutors that would be cool.

I know a couple guys that use Tunecore and love it. It's not that expensive at all.

I would definitely go with Tunecore then find a supplemental distributor that can get your stuff in stores.

For physically getting your stuff in stores check out the following site.

http://www.indierec.com/s-distribution.html#1stop

What's cool is that you can contact stores in the regions you want to sell and let them know were to purchase your music from and they'll get in in stores. This is a huge asset if you're trying to push real hard in a certain market. They also make the hard copy of your music available for purchase on the major online stores like Tower Records.com and such.

CDBABYalways reminds me of a place like soundclick only dealing with real cd's instead of mp3's.

I've actually decided against buying someone's record because the only place purchase it was on CD BABY and nowhere else.

^^^ wow..... good looks my dude... i was actually leaning more towards tunecore.... i know its a stupid reason but cdbaby seems so amaturish with the design of there site.. it looks like my grandma made the site... it just looks childish and wrong to me lol.

No problem. I was in the process of setting up a national release for my group before we disbanded. I did a lot of research and Tunecore with the indierec.com option seemed like the best option.

^^^ thats true as well... they both beat dishing out thousands to print up cd's and selling them in the subway at times square lol, thats for sure. im pretty sure for the projects that im working on on my shit is going to be like 95% digital... maybe print up like just 100- 200 hard copies to give to influential people and dj's, and at shows... and keep evrything else mostly digital..
