Listened to some of the samples of the album... not really feelin it that much, I bought a couple of The Roots last few albums (Game Theory, Tipping Point...) wasn't feelin those that much either. I love The Roots, and I know they have talent, maybe I'm just stuck in the past... all I know is that as much I a try, I just don't get that same feelin like when I first heard Illadelph Halflife...

All of you are insane, shits hot.

Or you could bump W

name a better album in 08, and dont say smash bros.

A better 08 album lets see

Custom made( underground group)
Nas
Kids in the hall
Buchshot 9th wonder
Lil wayne

I feel Roots have been falling off the past three albums, they have stopped being a "band" and are stuck in this kinda artsy fad hip hop thing.. You can tell by the recordings.. Blackthought Lives in LA and the rest of the CREW lives on the east coast and they record by sending stuff back and forth.. They have lost the "jam" vibe and i just wasnet feeling the sound of the album besides that b-girl track

I was hoping it would be good but I think they're going into some sort of experimental area which I don't like. Plus it's almost as if they can't decide if they want to be classified as rap or pop.

Apparently I havent heard good hiphop in so long I have forgotten what it sounds like.
Obviously you haven't heard the "The Trickle Down lp" or the "Circle, Square, Triangle mixtape". Dont worry Relic. Stop by the ole myspace joint and follow the links in the blog homeperm. You'll be str8 after that. TRUST!

they are playing aprox. some 250 shows a year constantly since '89 and produce their albums in between. black thought says they never were able to transfer their live qualities to their albums.
you have to catch one of their live shows to understand the roots dilemma i guess. worldclass top music, way beyond just loops and rap. but they are too good for their own good i think; musically too advanced to sell on commercial major scale, too many in members to settle down from recordsales (and maybe produce better albums) and lowering their standards as a live band is no option (how could one).
and they still put together records during their 2 months "spare time" a year, which are still good enough, so that we can have an argument about them. mad respect... *bumpsilladelphandlooksupwhenthenextrootsgigistocome*
