I am using a ksm-27 right now but feel that my voice is being recorded flat. I use a Creative Audigy 2 soundcard and that may be part of my problem(opinion?). I have been considering getting a Presonus TubePre to raise teh quality of recording. although i am aware that my vocal timing an other elements are not on par.. i'm strickly talking about the sound. thx in adv

u have a mic hooked into the line in of yur soundcard? if so u def should use a pre amp first, unless the particular line in yur using is pre amped..

The soundcard has an interdface under my cd-rom and it is not preamped, it is a quarter inch input. I use a seperate phantom-powered unit for the mic. so based on that i could def use a pre?

well if yur mixer has phantom power then its made for recording a mic, and if its made for recording a mic, then it SHOULD have a preamped chennel on there. findout if any of the chanels are pre amped. if they arent u def wanna get a preamp

Pre Amp is good especially if u run any hardwar in ur lab cuz it every time u put an effect on a vocal or a an instrument, the instrument or vocal loses amplitude so that Pre Amp will give u any thing lost and have ur voice or instrument back to where it shud be or where u wud want it to be
