special cord for digital signal?

i wanted to use that digital out shit on my mpc but the last time i tried to record digital signal was from my dvd player and i just ran a regular phono wire from the digital out of my dvd player into the digital in on my m audio revolution, no sound... is there a special cable you need? will the digital signal be stereo even tho its only one wire?

Hey Wu you're gonna need a coaxial cable:

You can check Radio Shack for some cheaper cables. Also, the digital signal will be in stereo.

thanks yo ,ill have to cop that, first i need a soundcard with digital in,turns out my soundcard has a digital out, not in, damn
