I found soundfonts to sound a bit weak, something to do with the sample quality in soundfonts.
Id personally recommend switching to VST's.

i do use vsti i just liked a few sounds on this particular site

the emu mo phat and planet phat sf2 kits have some decent sounds. but i agree, they sound a bit thin so i use them for inspiration mainly
