small indie labels suck

had a deal on the table with an indie label here in la and they backed out coz they said my beats were to sample heavy. they didnt wanna pay the damn clearance. damn hippies! hahaha! all good though. got to get more connects. my thing is, they're distributed by universal so who really pays for the clearance? the label or universal?

I think it totally depends on the label, but yeah....thats pretty common from what i understand.

we can trade cold. give me your capital contact and ill give you this. haha! but yeah the thing is though they had an artist last year who had an album out that had all sampled beats. so i asked dude what was up with that. turned out the artist payed for all the sample clearing for his album. i dont think the album did too well so he prolly ended up losing money for doing that. still...cheap ass hippies!!

if your dependent on samples then you do not offically own your joints. i mean you might have time-stretched, bended, and even off-pitched it to the point that it cannot be identified [i.e. CT's wanton chance at this connect, i think]. making "beats" can be done of playing what you hear on a midi keyboard through the sacrifice of a good work ethic. never get dependent on having one hatchory when you can create many more spead throughout the tree's.. i.e. not relying on all your eggs to hatch in one basket of woven twind.

I See what you're saying. but im not gonna front. i make sampled beats better than i make synth beats. i do both but my sampled joints are hot. period. i threw some non-sampled beats at them but they werent feelin' it. they were feelin' the sampled ones and wanted to use it but they couldnt afford it. all isnt lost though. dude did say he would try to figure something out. coz he was definitely feelin' 2 beats and said that if he can get one he will. so im kewl with that
