More boom bap this week! Thanks in advance for all feedback and i'll return the favor in a few days!
I like it. Real chill. Lots of cacophonous overtones that are pleasing to the ear in my opinion. One thing I will say, I don't know what the time signature is in the hook/changeup, but it definitely fucked me up trying to flow over it in the couple tries I did. Maybe its because it isn't 4/4 like everything I write, or maybe I'm just retarded and can't flow without a snare on the 2 and 4. I dunno. I wouldn't be able to pick out a rhythm by ear if I wanted to. I'd have to sit down and physically write to it and still would have no idea what it is. I will say I noticed it right away and it was almost jarring to me. My ear expected one thing and I heard something completely different.
I really enjoy this beat fam , vibe is real good . Keep up the good work!
Trap isn't really my thing, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
Guitar:
I can't really comment on the bass, I really need to not be a lazy fuck dial in my monitors, they struggle to produce an accurate super low sub frequency range. Being that I can't crank it up due to not being the only person at home, I can hardly hear it. I will say I do like the guitar, but the kick drum is a bit much for me.
Piano:
I like this one a lot better personally. The piano is real nice, along with whatever that heavy reverb flute sound is. The bass is quite a bit more audible on my monitors. I think it could use a little bit less pitch bending. It needs a bit more punch in spots. However, I will say it kind of follows the same lines as the previous ones with the kick. Theres nothing wrong with what you're doing with the kick, necessarily, I just feel like less is more sometimes and overuse of that super fast stutter shit can be a bit grating.
Just released a new bop (jazzbeats/neosoul/fusion I guess?) with a couple of amazing featuring musicians. Hope ya dig it!
Something about this makes me think of cowboy bebop, even though it sounds nothing like it. Its really nicely mixed, feels like an entire song rather than a collection of loops too which is a huge bonus. Sometimes I swear I have ADD when it comes to that shit. It's almost a physical hinderance that prevents me from going past to that, "Okay, I've made some loops that work" stage. Probably more along the lines of I'm basically stumbling through beat making than anything.
Sounds nice. All the samples work well together. The drums aren't over the top. The 808 keeps the rhythm moving, and isn't way overkill on octave switches and pitch bends. It just sounds good. Like I said before, Trap isn't really my thing, but I can appreciate it when shit comes together nice.
