samplin from midi tracks

I was just wondering how many other people get midi tracks online then cut up the sequnce that they want in thier tracks. Hell if you can sample a record why not midi I know it dont sound the same but you can make it what ever you want after that. Just something I do sometimes and wondering if anyone else does this
