I wouldn't say that. Fab is just soooo diff't that he had the greater potential to make a lasting impression. His voice, cadence and swagger is just unique. Fab can spit it but he just has a lot more going for him than that. No one sounds like Fab. When u have that and some game on top it's a bit easier to get in the fast lane.
I wouldn't call him an underachiever. It was just easier for him to get lost in the shuffle. His voice is kind of unique but his swagger and look isn't. Fab had all three. Joe should have developed a look that set him apart from the rest of the Timbo sporting, scully hat wearing dudes doing it.
I can see Fab dawning a suit on an album cover and pulling it off, can't see Joe doing that. It's just a difference.

I was a Budden fan for a while....but he's just wasted talent....... When you're at that stage in the game..you should already know how to market yourself....if it means switching up your appearance......then do it....he's so close to making an impact in the mainstream...and he can't grasp it...

Exactly. Just goes to prove having a nice flow is not everything. The fans demand more than a hot sixteen and a bloder report in the paper for you doing something stupid. Along with your flow your image has to evolve as well. When either is stagnant you march in step or proceed backwards. Joe has been marching in step for years!
The best example of evolving at all three levels is OUTKAST and Cello Greene. Hardcore rap dudes think they lose something, rank or what not, if they change it up. Definitely not the case in the entertainment field~
