auctioning off a % of your writing share to fans of your music where you set the inital price and still maintain pub rights.

if all the logistics and mechanics were in order would any of you do something like this on either side of the equation?

keep in mind this is directed more at artists that are true indies with a possible following, but i can see something like a producer having a core group of believers and fans.

here's the info http://www.songvest.com/reverb/index.html?ad=15096&bs=259&g=Hip Hop&gr=971. don't know how i feel about it but i thought i would just put it out there

Reverbnation is hustling people. That's all it is... so they can create a larger "audience" to sell their advertising to.

They're part of the "selling musical hopes and dreams to the musical dreamers" industry. It's pure shit.

The real process of getting known or getting palpable success is tougher and involves a heavy investment of money.

sorry for the extremely lat reply but how are they selling pipe dreams? they offer yet another spot for artist/labels to host their music for free, they've integrated their widgets for myspace, facebook, bebo, freewebs, they offer different things to help an artist out. they also have shit that cost $, setting up itunes/tunecore/etc for a fee, promo, some other shit but that's up to you whether you want to utilize those services.

as far as my question, it was more about selling part of your writing share or publishing to fans/investors, regardless if it's through songvest or 'yourself'. personally, i can't see people wanting to buy into unknowns and the logistics seems wrought with potential problems and issues. but acts with loyal, sometimes fanatic, fans may see some benefit in terms of solidifying their base.
