Hey,

I'm using Reason 2.0. Some time ago I bought the Akai MPD-16 drums pads but never got around to using them much as I am redoing my apartment etc.

Anyway, now I also bought the Evolution UC-33 Midi controller
See picture of UC-33

I therefore finally got around to really setting the pads up and the UC-33 too (both use USB), Also I have I midi keyboard via the game port.

To get to the question. I can use the midikeybard always but I can't find a way to use both the UC-33 and the drums pads without changing my setup in the Midi Preferences in Reason everytime I need to change controller. Can someone help me find a way to set both controllers so I can use them both without having to change setup every time. Can it be done?

Also, I have bothered with it until now...but whenever I load stuff to play with the MPD...it never sets the sounds in any particular order that matches how they are set in Reason...e.g. if I load drums in ReDrum, the drums will just be placed all over the pads fx. pad 1,2,5,6,7,8,10,11...and the remainder will be empty. Can I set the MPD in anyway so that the drums are placed on pad 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 etc and in the same order as in Reason?

All help is appreciated. Thanks!

Wussup, As far as i Know you have to switch the device in the midi preferences. It only takes a second. I know its annoying but its not so bad. As for the MPD set up ask some guy about that he set mine up, its weird how the drums etc jump around to different pads but mine is now set up how it should be.

Sup Copenhagen, this is how you do it:

First open Reason and load a Re-drum kit with all the cells so you can see what you're doing. (cells = channels. I call them cells becuase I use Battery and I'm used to calling them that)

-Now hold the "active" button for 2 seconds until it starts blinking. While the "active" button is blinking hit the pad you want to assign first (for example Pad1 on the lower left corner).

-When you hit it, it'll probably trigger some random cell. Now use the "Full Level" button and the "16 level" buttons as up/down buttons. "Full Level" is up and "16 level" is down. So just keep punching "pad1" as you hit the "16level" and you'll see the cell switch to a lower one. When you get to the cell (channel) you want to assign to that Pad just hit the "active" button again to finish the setting. (I have Pad1 assigned to the first cell but you might want something different).

-Now Pad1 will trigger cell one. Now do the same thing for the other pad's. It actually goes pretty fast after you get used to it. And you only have to do it once. Since Redrum only has 10 cells you'll only have to do this 10 times. You can do the rest but its pretty pointless for drums.

I'm not very good at explaining things like this but hopefully you can follow it. Theres also a diagram underneath the MPD that shows how to do it if thats easier for you. Holla.
