Hey,

Taking a stab at this...

Isn't there a sampler in Reason called NN19? Normally you would load the sound into it, then map it out across the keyboard so that the pitch changes as you move up and down the keys. If you're lucky, it will map out the keys for you so that you can start playing immediately.

If you look in the manual, I'm sure it will tell you exactly how to do this.

Take care,

Nick

Hey,

Forgive me for asking, I don't even have Reason....

Isn't Dr. Rex used for playing back .rex files? It sounds like he wants to play his samples across a keyboard, I thought that .rex files were sort of like drum loops all chopped up that just get triggered, not played across a keyboard.

Educate me!

Thanks,

Nick

yeah w/ Dr. Rex you can load your sample up in ReCycle import is as an rex file and hit one key and it will play the sample as long as the key is held down. or chop it and make it funky....

If you want to play it across a keyboard (whether it's soft or hard), use NN19 or NN-XT. I mostly use the NN-XT because of all the gadgets you can work with. If it's a loop, load it into recycle, chop it there, save it as rex and load it into Dr. Rex. Then you can play the whole loop or just the parts you want.

You need to load the sample into Recycle, chop up the sample regarding what parts you want to be played on each key on the keyboard. Save it from Recycle into .rx2 format. Load it up into Reason's DrRex player, then you can play the samples on your keyboard. East ;D

Also i suggest using the Notch filter on the DrRex instead of the default LP2 or whatever it is, i cant remember. Notch gives more of a punch and raw sound.
