Yah I wanted to kno, wats the best method to taking the lows out of a sample in Reason 3.0, I can do this technique with success in adobe audition, but I want to take the lows out the sample witout it sounded so hollow.

ikno alot of producers do this method so they can layer their drums and play basslines over the sample, but yah wat techniques do you reason users do..?

If you have Recycle you can do it within it. If not use bp or hp filter in which ever module you load the sample up in. If not that run it thru an Eq and take the low end out and slightly raise the mid area so u still have a some meat to the sample. If you don't have Recycle in addition to Reason you are missing out on a valuable tool!

MAn this question comes up a lot, i think i asked it like 5 times already lol.
I do it in recycle with the stuff in there or with the mclass i mess with the low and high ends mostly and keep the middle pretty much as is.

Create a Highpass Filter: Here's how!

1. Start with an empty rack, and create a reMix mixer
2. Create a Combinator
3. In the Combinator Sub-rack, create 3 MClass Eq's. Auto-routing will connect them in series between the To Devices and From Devices input and output jacks.
4. ON M EQ 1, set Lo Shelf On, Gain -18.3db, Q:2.0 Param 1: On, Gain:-1.7db, Q:2.8 Param 2: On, Gain: -17.1db, Q:1.0
5. On M EQ 2, set Hi Shelf On. Param 1: On, Freq: 224.1 Hz, Q: 1.0. Param 2: On, Freq: 2.354 Hz, Q:1.0

6. On M EQ 3, set Low Shelf: On, Gain -18.3dbm Q:0.92. Param 1: On.
7. Open Combinator Programmer and set the following modulation routings:

Device Source Target Min Max
M EQ 1 Rotary 1 Low Shelf Freq 0 1000
M EQ 1 Rotary 1 Parametric 1 Freq 215 595
M EQ 1 Rotary 1 Parametric 2 Freq 0 560
M EQ 2 Rotary 1 Parametric 2 Gain 0 -64
M EQ 2 Rotary 1 Hi Shelf Gain 0 14
M EQ 2 Rotary 1 Parametric 1 Gain 21 -64
M EQ 3 Rotary 1 Parametric 1 Freq 0 1000
M EQ 3 Rotary 2 Parametric 1Gain 0 63
M EQ 3 Rotary 3 Parametric 1 Q 0 127
M EQ 3 Rotary 1 Lo Shelf Freq 0 1000

On the front of the Combi rename Rotary 1 Cutoff Freq and set @ 40
Rotary 2 Resonance and set @ 2
Rotary 3 Bandwidth and set @ 6

(((Save this patch as HighPass Filter.cmb)))

**** u will need to create 2 addtional Rotary 1's in the combi programmer..u have 4 extra slots to do so****

ANY PROBLEMS HIT ME UP AND I'LL WALK U THRU IT!!! IF U DON'T KNOW HOW TO ADD EXTRA SLOTS IN THE PROGRAMMER OR HOW TO CHANGE SETTINGS GO TO REASON HELP AND CONTENTS!!!

Bye Bye bass

shit might as well upload it lol

Now if u want an easier fix try this. It doesn't get more simple.

Hold down shift and create a BV512 so that it won't autoroute.
Hold down shift and create a module for your sample ( NN19,NNXT, Dr rex etc.)

make the following setting to theBV512
Mode EQ
Band count 4
hold off
shift -14
Band levels 1 -Infdb
2 -Infdb
3 0db
4 0db
Connect the BV512 outputs to channel 1 of the reMix Mixer
Connect the outputs of the module that you use to trigger the sample
to the BV512's inputs

MClass Stereo Imager

Run the sample that you want to take either the hi or lo out with this one!
On the far right side of the stereo imager you have Solo. You can solo the Hi Band or solo the Lo Band. Select Solo Hi Band and the bass is gone. Solo the Lo band and the hi band is gone. Play around with the X-Over Freq to take even more of either out.
