Racks VS Sample Tank VS Reason or ALL ???

Lately I been trying to make my arrangement and setup - efficient.

First step, was to get live. Once i did that, i found a program that lets me sequence, midi, audio, VSTS..and extra FX that i use..which things like Cubase and etc dont have or use.

So that retired my need for Fruity Loops.

Then as far as sounds go, I got the Motif Rack and JV1010 - which im a bit shabby on editing sounds with. Not as easy as i hoped but im working on it....

So i was thinking about keeping Sample Tank - since i won it at a beat contest.

Problem is I personally dont feel that its as good as the motif sounds, which is arguable.
So im still iffy on it - altho its 7.5 gigs of sounds.

Then my boy was like, i shouldnt buy the triton i wanted, cuz Reason > Triton.
And i heard this from more than one source several times.

So im just looking for collective experiences and preferences.

So it can help me make a decision.

So what would you prefer ? and why ?

Just got with whats working for you...

I perfer Software route.. just alot easier/faster for me to get thing done using it.
Yea i've been a in a few labs were alot of people were using things liek Sampletank, ya know hypersonic, Vienna, reason Fl, other apps Etc over there hardware pieces, It just another tool thats all...

I dunno I mean Reason can Be better than a triton and visa vera its just depends on how your looking at... I would base that argument On Functions/features to be honest because there both pretty useless without a good sounds library...

its always a good thing to have good a/d converters aswell... you can get the same sounnds you find on hardware units and other software tools in .wav format...
Companies know Software has the capability to do whatever the hardware is doing and they know Kids/ people that wont up the funds for roland Fantom or a Motif will Spend $50-100 For a Sound CD(strings or the Piano or whatever)..Some people only like certain sounds from certain Brands... So guess what the companies do..... there is no way they are going to Miss that market....

I got guy that comes over he uses sampletank and an Mpc.. What he did was he went out and bought Strings and Piano from roland, Synths from triton, Accoustic guitar from Yamaha and He converts them into Sampletank Format thats just his world.. Same thing can be done with any other software and hardware... you can get anything on a unit or another app in Pure Wav format and from there u can do whatever u like to it.

Alot of people will sit there and blow smoke up your ass about like "its not as good in if its played from a software piece it doesn't sound as full it does sound this way or that" well thats because they suck and they never sat down in a pro studio using kick ass coverters while using there software..

I mean its true if i Take a Kick or a String and run it Through a Eps, you sound card, Akai Mpc yes there going to Sound Diff.. and the diff is te Components on Each Piece of hardware... People again will say but Digital is soooo CLEAN wah wah.. There is No Digital.. your Soundbite hits a Fuckin soundcard before its heard...

Also you can take a Clean signal and Dity it up all u want... and once its Mixed (good) u cant Sit there and Tell me which Version of the track was made on what unless i told you.

But u cant take a Dirty Sound and go backwards.. thats what i love about Clean Signal I have control over how Dirty it sounds i love that controll.

Now dont get it twisted hardware is good in my book i mean from time to i still run my Sounds through a akai Sampler Simply Because it has that sound i want.. Sure i can Tweak Get it close have it mastered and let people argue over what it was made on

But i like Being Simple im not gonna tweak to Emulate something Such as that Akai Sound when i can just run the sounds through it..(thats just easy for me)

ranting i see sorry

If i were you i would take what im use to if u use to use your racks Stick with the racks

and also Sampletank throws you a basic dry type sound its ment for people that like to Sound Model Same with reason

But yea if ur Use to the racks use them u said the sound Editing is not too easy nothing is really easy unless you willing to sit down and tough it out learn it.. its a piece of Gear

well one thing... is the functionality of hardware synths.

the editing and shaping in a motif, for example, you will not get in collossus. the sounds in collossus are GREAT but you can not edit them the way you woudl in a motif, unless you have, say, kontakt 2.

personally..... you got to go with what is most intuitive and affordable for you. collossus is great but in all honesty for the price the ES rack would be a better bet.
