I spend some time over at Craig Anderton's audio engineering forum on Harmony Central.
Bruce Swedien (Quincy Jones main engineer, worked with Ellington/Basie/Michael Jakson/Jennifer Lopez) has been showing up there and posting some real interesting stories about his life's works.
Bruce is a real good guy, real humble considering he's engineered some of the best selling (and sounding) recordings of the 20th century. He's basically trying to pass on the knowledge to the new generation, good stuff.
Anyways, today he was reminiscin about the recording and release of Billie Jean by MJ, fascinating info IMO:
