Unfortunately yes.
I watch it from time to time. It is filling a void since a lot of the major comedies have come and gone. Like Everybody Loves Ray and King of Queens. There are a couple of other funnier shows but I don;t know if it is the time slot that is doing that.
2 and a Half Men come on like around 6 & 7 when people are eating dinner and stuff. Office and 30 Rock come on later like close to 9.
This was the best show to me:

Yeah. From my understanding it has the highest ratings for a sitcom - hence why it's called the "biggest comedy."
Charlie Sheen (from the show) makes close to a million bucks an episode from what I hear. It's big because people across all demos watch it. I think it's bland with a slight edginess to it - but that's also why it's so popular.

timing and the way it was presented is everything. it's no coincidence that sheen won a golden globe (that whole thing is a classic circle jerk, tit for tat) when the show had barely been on the air, it's not due to his horrible plastic performance where he barely conceals himself looking at the cue cards.
it also employs the tried and true laugh track, which despite many producers and shows attempts to dead it, is still used and in the case of that crap overused and needed. many people need it when it comes to sitcoms.
but one thing to keep in mind, this is still based on an old system but with a lack of truly being to gauge what shows people are watching while tivo/pvr'ing another, dl'ing, number of tv/comps streaming in a household, and the lack of neilson families, etc, tv number people are stuck using the same flawed methods of their ratings systems.

Never heard of any of them. We get shit over here like 'Not Going Out' and 'My Family'. TV sucks, I rarely watch it apart from South Park, Simpsons and sports.

Saw the show once, wasn't my cup of tea. It appears that these tv shows lack creativity. Most shows aren't shit unless they have racy topics, except Married with Children..that shows the shit and the urine...
