ProTools Le......HELP

Alright.....I have a big problem while recording in ProTools Le because I record My Choruses to my songs first on all different tracks and then i go back to the beginning and do my first, second and third verse to my songs all on different tracks also and i do my BEAT ON TRACK 1.......AND MY ADLIBS ON DA LAST TRACKS...........BUT DA BIG PROBLEM THAT IM HAVING IS WHEN THE TIMELINE IN PROTOOLS LE RUNS ACROSS A NEW PIECE OF THE SONG IT MAKES THIS WEIRD AND ANNOYING POPPING NOISE.....wHAT IS THE REASON FOR THIS AND HOW DO YOU GET IT AWAY SO THERE IS NO POPPING.....??????.....O YAH HERE IS ANOTHER PROBLEM THAT IM HAVING=I PLAY BACK THE SONG I JUS RECORDED AND IT SOUNDS LIKE ONE OF MY CHORUSES IS DIFFERENT THAN THE OTHER IN LOUDNESS OR VOICE I KNOW MIXING HAS A LOT TO DO WITH THAT BUT EVEN WHEN I MIX IT STILL IS NOT SATISFYING.....HOW DO I FIX THESE PROBLEMS BECAUSE I JUST MADE SOME FIYYYYAAAA BEATZ AND THE RECORDING PART MAKES THE SONG SOUND HORRIBLE .......SO PLEASE HELP CUS THERE IS A WAY AND IM WILLING TO TAKE IT...........hAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYBODY ELSE

Man you see like you having a few difficulties, its hard to answer this because there could be a number of things wrong.....what type of mic and what noise level to do you have in the back ground on the vocal track? and after you record are you trimming the track to just the area where the ad libs are so you have a small piece consisting of just that ad lib?...if so it could be what you are hearing the pop is the noise at the beginning of that portion of the recorded vocal???

There are several ways to approach that problem....1 eliminate all surrounding noise in the room....even a quiet room emits enuff noise to present a noticeable difference in a recording....

if you cant isolate your vocal recording area, then there are some other ways you can actually record......you can insert a gate (protools plugin or a real one but i suggest the tools) on the mic input and set it so it only opens and records your vocals and then closes or stops recording when you are not spitting your bars...

so my advice at this point is try and minimize the noise in the room or area where your record......it is possible to use a fade in on the vocals.....right before the ad libs come in or you can mute that part.............if you are finding that your vocals are of varying levels that tells me you are not observing proper mic discipline....you need to run some tests on your mic and find the best distance.....I usually use the pop filter to measure the distance that the particular artist needs to be from the mic .......I usually get a peak mic check ( at the loudest or normal level that the mc may be reciting their lyrics at)....then use that.......you want the strongest signal without clipping i usually say in protools keep it in the yellow I find that even keeping my signal mid yellow is the best results without clipping....also remember on the track where the vocal level is low there is a very good chance that the signal to noise ratio is higher....meaning if you normalize that track to make it louder you will also amplify the noise you have from your room or other noise sources such as AC......you may want to set up a compression preset and use it on your vocals.....I think the tools has on already set up....you can use it on your finished vocals, I would normalize the vocals to around 95 % or so...then even the rest in your mixing process along with eq only as needed...


summing it up I think your problem is more a product of the techniques you are using to record, I would try those things up top (before even gating)

Sometimes the weird and annoying popping and cracking sound is due to a hardware or software problem.

Have you ever gotten an error message while recording or playing back? (Like DAE error -9000)?

What interface do you have? MBox? There has been a glitch in the MBoxes, that you have to unplug and plug it in after startup of your computer right before you begin Pro Tools. I used to have that popping all the time, or no playback at all.

Also, check your Buffer Size, under setups, I think it is. Change it to 1024 or 2048 samples and maybe it will help.

Dude solo the track that is popping.
If its a part that has nothing crucial on it you can highlight it and clear it.
Protools will allow you to zoom in on the problem and eliminate it.
Try strip silence.
FIRST though we need to know HOW you are recording the trax.
Are you doing everything :

Snare
Kick
LO KIK
Viloins
GTR
Bassline
MAIN Vox
Adlib vox
Chorus1
Chorus2
Scratches
Shit like that ?
If not then do,
It will help you isolate and analyse.
NOW that being said....

Some samples even ones that I have bought or sampled myself have a damn click
in them.
Before you program try and truncate it out then do it.

I had the same problem and it was due to the computer not being on the correct DAE buffer as stated above or the computer ur using isn't strong enough to run that software

the quick fix is to shut down and restart protools, that should get rid of the pop temporarily, u might wanna upgrade ur computers ram if u havent already

do ur recordings ever suddenly sound screechy or like it has a high level of static?

the pop might be whenever u click the mic off on the record check the wave forme n jus cut it out i used to get that cuz my mic would oick up me hitting the stop button, this coulb be it too

ive figured out how to blend everything in without pops or unwanted noises
