Start listenin to some different music for awhile, or just listen to music, dont even think about making it, after a little while, youll be back again. I just had the same problem and thats what fixed it for me man.

ya man for real listen to too much hip hop and rap you'll come out stale. If you like working wit melodies in ur beats then pick up somethin sick like the Strokes album , even somethin heavier like Three Days Grace (who are sick btw in case you havent heard em). They're loaded with so many melodies and awesome hooks that you'll get inspired quickly.
If you aren't so much into melodies and more that rugged raw type of beats then check out some jungle or some drumnbass, shit is hectic and the good stuff has amazing drum loops , sounds, and patterns.

some info

yea to pick up what they said earler

its essinchal that you listen to differnt types of music ALL THE TIME. casue when you think about it hip hop is a combination of many types of music.

Pesonally i love classical music. Even more than hip hop. So i make sure i get an even balance. If your lookin for some samples
check these classical composers. Most are from the romatic period some are from the impressionlic period.

spelling may be a little off
Chopin
debussy
straus

START CHOPPING AND CUTTING SAMPLES... USUALLY IF I GET STUCK DOING ONE METHOD OF PRODUCTION I SWITCH TO ANOTHER... SAY I GET TIRED OF USING FL-STUDIO I JUST TO REASON FOR A WHOLE NEW SOUND... AND THEN IF I GET THE CAHNCE TO FINALIZE TRACKS I'LL GO BACK AND ADD VOCALS TO SOMETHING IVE ALREADY LAID OUT BY ADDING ACAPELLAS ON TOP OF THEM... I FIND MOST OF MY ACAPELLAS VIA P2P AND FTP SERVERS.. AND IF I FEEL IN THE MOOD I CAN SPIT SOME BARS MYSELF... EVERYDAY CANT BE PRODUCTION DAY HOWEVER.. YOU GOTS TO TAKE THE APPORPRIATE TIME OUT IN ORDER FOR YOUR CREATIVE JUICES TO REBUILD... THE CREATIVITY WITHIN US ALL IS LIKE A MUSCLE THAT REQUIRES ONE TO EXERCISE IT AND AT OTHER TIMES TO REST IT SO THAT IT CAN GROW STRONGER... SO IN TIMES WHERE IM SLUMPING I RECOGNIZE THAT I HAVE TO REST MY MIND AND GET AWAY FROM THE ROUTINE OF MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC AND MAYBE FOCUS ON SOME OTEHR METHODS OF MY LIFE I HAD BEEN NEGLECTING SUCH AS CARD GAMES, X- BOX, CAR MAINTENANCE, LOVE LIFE, A MOVIE, WALKING, GETTING PAID...

MUSIC IS FED FROM LIFE EXPERIENCES SO THEREFORE THE MORE YOU EXPERINCE THE BETTER YOUR TRACKS WILL BE... ITS ONLY PROPER THAT WHEN U RUN INTO A SLUMP YOUR MIND IS TELLING YOU THAT ITS RUNNING LOW ON THINGS TO DRAW CREATIVE ENERGY FROM... SO MY ADVICE TO YOU IS TO GET OUT OF YOUR DAILY ROUTINE AND DO SOMETHING NEW... USUALLY A SLUMP SIGNIFIES BOREDOM... SO DO SOMETHING YOU WOULD DO WHEN U'RE BORED...

y'all are missin' the point! i listen to everything so that covers that! i particularly listen to a lot of '60s music (my Pops & gurl are crazy about it). ive had HOes to. that didnt work. and yes, i sample. and i find great samples. only it never pans out to become a decent beat. i also MC. thats what ive been doing for the past 2 months. recording songs and collaborating with local talents. but i need to get back to my first love which is producin'. So yeah thats it! thanks for the advice though homies! keep up the good work around here! when i break the ice ill make sure to post the beat up!

for me personally, if i'm in a slump, i just make a beat for myself.. not necessarily a beat that would be used for an emcee or somethin like that.. i guess what i'm tryin to get at is, throw out your perception of what is dope, or what everyone else may think is dope.. do it for the music's sake, not for anyone else's. sometimes when you go back to having fun doin this shit, somethin dope may come out of it, therefore you win either way. that's the way i see it.
