I'm trying to start sampling my own drums from vinyl and I was wondering what's a good preamp I could use to run my turntable in before sending it to the computer. I notice that when I sample straight into the PC that my drums don't have that knock, even after I EQ and put effects on them. No more than $300.

ur prolly better off just getting a better soundcard or ad/da converter ... a preamp would be better used if ur actually tracking out live drums .. u could get a preamp but i think u could spend ur money better... whats ur current setup??

if u want a really solid unit... try a yamaha i88x ..the converters are excellent and the preamps are actually prettyy high class... a step up from the m-audio fo sho..the problem with them is that they use the mlan driver which some computers agree with and others dont ... if ur on a pc chances are you will be able to run it with no problems.. i took mine back because as a mac user the shit was fucking up on me and using way to much processor power but ive heard similar complaints from other mac users .. but the units qulaity is sweet.. clear converters and a clean high class preamps.. and there cheap for what u get
