What u doin up at 6:36 a.m. on a sunday???

life's been sorta hecktic between college and working.. i woke up at like 4am [can't sleep]

but hey, whats wierd is to see these rabid, old-white, beady-eyed, men preaching fear and then catch them rhymin to help support their cause. Rap's originated from the African-American community so i could see the corralation between this topic and African-American preachers... but these old [and you just know their racist] white preachers would look shook to pass Classic on the sidewalk, but yet probably go home and write their raps [sermons]. shits bannanas

p.s. i know it sounds like i'm generalizing all white preachers.. but i am not. I am just callus towards the whole thing. it pisses me off

i agree with classic, i don't know about ALL of them being hustlers, but it's true A LOT of them are soaking up tv time. they makin' mad loot and at the same time makin' believers out of thousands. you see the audience, it's crazy!

I think a lot of rappers could preach as well...Just look at Cee-Lo: I remember the track he did on the Goodie Mob: Soul Food album where he was like "I didn't write a verse for this but I still got somthing to say.." and he started speaking on some powerful S*** about how black people and all opressed minorities need to stand up and fight for there freedom to express themselves. It was some deep and touching stuff.

well preaching is after all a message.. and so is rap. but don't encourage ANY rappers unless they have a real detramental messgage. the last thing we need is a mob bad rappers who try to preach their backward an immature beliefs without a beat. i might kill myself

but...... is that a bad thing?

i see where being corrupt is a problem.

but... in its essence.. bein a preacher is a gift, being able to captivate an audience and get them to hang on to your every word and "buy" into what you are "selling" them wether you are a coach (see pat riley, hes a legendary motivator, his teams were succesful), a salesman (been there, done that, i sold alarms to people with alarms!), a self help specialist(see tony robbins incredible empire) or a preacher....in which case you are selling the bible as the word of god and the key to their salvation. nobody wants to listen to a boring, monotone, ben stien type speaker. but a charismatic, well spoken, intense preacher has the gift of relaying the message that they came to hear in a powerful way that motivates them. its an inherent gift that people have and as with anything you will have your quota of people who misuse that gift for personal gain.

my only problem is the sales example. which is why i started this thread. people need a message if it is a message that will change lives. preaching is wonderful, i preach all the time. but to see magnitudes of innocent people get lured into beliefs that they teach their children and is all based on a lie makes me want to commit a crime. it's sad. in oklahoma there are more churces than grocerie stores Easily. people are living in fear around here because they don't have the right to think for themselves, cause they must have faith. And i don't mean the good faith where you believe in a god in a moral way, i mean in the sceme that many follow and take their familiy on.. ike lemmings off a cliff

umm ok well this is going into a whole new direction.

so that said......... religion topics always end horribly and if you do not believe in what they are saying, you are entitled to that but i'd rather we didnt get into the "true" or "false" teirritory of religion in here, because it will lead to pointless arguing.
