OVERDUB button 2000xl

[Equality 7-2521]

In the mpc 2000xl manual in the section "Recording a loop" it says .....
"to start recording hold down RECORD and press OVERDUB.

when i do this, NOTHING happens

i have to hold down START and press OVERDUB

is my machine fucked or is it a typo in the manual or what?
