Not the end of the world because the 2 track I did of this song came out good, BUT:

I, like a dumbass, have somehow erased my flagship dumbass song Dumb Slutty bitches.

Now thinking there was no problem because I had basically taken an entire folder full of illmuzik projects and moved them to an external drive and this song was amoung them, then I erased it from my D drive and I have been sleeping well. Until yesterday ,

I decided to bring that song back onto my D drive under the whole DJ Dirty Nuts project, so I locate the folder and transfer it back np.
I open said folder to see in fact it was an older version without the lyrics on it...Sweat begins to break out all over me...

Oh but no prob Ill just go to the recycle bin, ummm shit, its not in there......

Okay then lemme check the unerase wizard... Oh there it is thank God!! I grab and drag it to the desk top , I may have mashed restore as well.

Theeeeen I'll just drag this session from the desk top into the folder I want it , carnk up PT and now open this session, oh good , thank God Im a genius I can see the vocal sessions being listed, there's the plug ins aaaaaaaand....

FUCK- The tracks are all there but the wavs themselves are totally gone.. Oh please let this relinking tool work. NOpe 33 files not found...

Nrvous Sweat starts again breaking out all over me. wait lemme sleep on it I'll just leave it up over night.

Woke up this am and went in there knowing that I had seen all the wav folders and bounce downs last night lemme just try and restore those as well..

HA! Guess what isnt IN the unerase wizard anymore?

I find the illmuzik file in there though maybe if I look in here (double left click), where the hell did it go? Why the hell would they make a double left click an perma erase command???
I dont even know if that was the case...

I go back and start fucking with the relinking tool again and no results in the little time left before I have to leave for work.

It would be a REAL inconvience to have to redo all the vox and in fact it would be impossible to do it the same way again period...

Im using PT 6.4 any suggestions? Similar experiences?

put it this way .. i recorded GMC twice.

not due to hard drive, but due to the fact that my preamp/compressor was setup incorrectly and was slighty distorting the vocal takes. i didnt realize until i started the mixing stage. when i started really listening, diggin in and putting eq and compression on things i realized that damn near every one of my takes had distortion. had to redo the vocals on almost the whole project, including bringing back most of the guest rappers/singers on the album to redo their parts. its not the end of the world. when u revisit it, u may realize that something could be added, or taken away. or u could phrase things diffrently etc,, plus u know the words even better, so it will feel even more natural in the booth. i notice that when i perform live, i tend to use more swaggerous inflections and tones than i did in the booth recording it in the first place. the reason is that i know the song so well i can "play around" with wit my flow, as opposed to the initial recording in the booth where i might have written it only a few minutes before i spit it so the delivery will be more technical and orthodox. . rerecoding fucking sucks, but it could actually improve the sound of the record.
