If you have ever been equalizin and you think you need to turn up the hi's but you dont like the hiss that comes with it. or if you just want to get rid of the sound of the room in your vocal track, (on cool edit atleast) then what you want to do is to highlight some space inbetween your words (that should be the sound of the room you recorded your vocals in) then go to noise reduction, then click "get profile from selection". (that will tell the "noise reducer" what sound to reduce) then go back and highlight your whole vocal track and go back to noise reduction and set level of reduction you want....i usually keep mine set on high reduction because my vocals are ran thru a couple old rack consoles b4 they get to the soundcard so i get alot of hum and hiss, but if you set the reduction level too high you mite mess up your vocal track, so experiment with it to get the rite levels. then of course click okay then you should find that the hum or hiss or sound of the room has been reduced...
PS. MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY OF THE VOCALS HIGHLIGHTED WHEN YOU ARE GETTING THE PROFILE FROM THE SELECTION! IT WILL MESS UP YOUR VOCALS. but then again you can always hit undo. aight jus tryna help yall be easy.
