Ok, im totally lost in this world basically i have a decent sound card which is by no means pro (Audigy) and i have fl4.x/cool edit pro 2....

i sample off of cd/downloads for now just to learn and thats good enough so i know i dont want to invest in turntables yet..

Im thinking of investing in hardware, b/c i heard a hybrid of both soft/hard is best way to go..

if all i have is what i mentioned above what else do i need?? and i know its personal preference but the thing is i have almost no info on the advantages of hardware so i dont have a preference...

for example like why would you get a keyboard? and what the hell is a midi controller?
i know what an MPC is basically its the hardware version of an fl package
other then that im totally at loss in terms of keyboards/other hardware and the advantage they offer....

simply put is... what advantage do i get out of getting keyboards ect

well uv got fl4 so if i was u then id get a midi controller for now. a midi controller is a keyboard with no built in sounds that triggers sounds from another unit. u can hook up a midi controller to software packages such as FL so that u can play the sounds in FL easily. u can also hook up midi controllers to sound modules/racks suchy as the motif rack. MIDI is a signal that triggers the sounds, if u didnt already know.

You have enough right now to make some heat! A keyboard is basically used as a midi controller.. A midi controller is a device hooked up through midi (into your soundcard) and from that you can control notes/samples in Fruity Loops rather than have to use the piano roll... It makes your production easier if you want to go that route... The MPC is not like a hardware fl package.. The MPC when bought usually comes bare (no sounds)... As opposed to fruity where that comes with sounds and drums all ready to use.. It's a very powerful piece of equipment if you know how to use it.. Don't go get one because Kanye West, Dr. Dre, Scott Storch have one... It's completely usesless to people like that because you have to take time to learn it in order for it to be so good... But, What u have right now man is good to get started with... See what u like first, U may be a better software producer then a hardware producer or use both, like myself...
