I have some questions if anyone can help me please.....

What would you guys recomend for getting the best sound (vocal clarity) as possible?

I have mpowered pro tools (i believe 7.4 version), with a m-audo mobile pre, with a rhode nt-1a mic.

My comp is relativley good with 2 gb, 2.4 ghz procsessing speeds, and a dual core processor.

What what you suggest for overall clarity and best sound? like bit, and sample rates for the audio interface, as well as settings inside pro tools itself.

Also, while mixing....... all i really do is solo each vocal track and add efx as desired, and mess with the volume on each a little bit....anything else i should do?

Get a better pre. Different pre's color the vox differently. It depends on your budget.

I also think you've limited yourself with the M-Audio version of ProTools. Considering you don't really need pro tools for what it's really needed for (stability during long recording sessions... which is the HD version.) I think you could have opted for a more value oriented solution like Cubase or decent software based DAW and pocketed the extra money you spent on PT.

1st you need to figure out what you need, vocal clarity would involve the mic and mic pre. figure out a budget for a better pre

the soundcard is for da/ad (sometimes) and connectivity, for m-powered your best bet would be to get either the 610 or 2626 (which many, not all, consider to be on par with similar priced rme card), you will need a set of good monitors to take advantage of it. the 2626 has the octane pre, not sure about it's little brother the 610, so that's another option as far as pre's go for the time being.
