Whats up, I am starting a company that makes reason refills of old synths that are hard to find. You guys know I have access to million dollar studios so these will be CRAZY high quality. I can also get about any obscure peace of gear easily. So my questions are. What refills would be cool? How much would you guys pay for a ultra high quality synths? We are even going to recreate the filters with combination. It will be cool. Thoughts?

The first one will be out soon, and will be around 64 patches. Hard core analog sounding, Bass, pads, leads.

Nice man, they wouldnt trip that your making money off their gear tho?

Some refills id like to see would be:

Rhodes Suitcase (multisampled)
Realistic MG-1
Mellotron (multisampled)
Prophet 08 (multisampled)
Moog Little Phatty
Hammond XK-3c

It seems like your main selling points for something like this would be having libraries of whats currently hot right now but not available in any other formats since the companies want u to buy the keyboards instead...Not sure how legal that is, but if you can I would def sample like all of the Fantom X series sounds and all of the Motif sounds and sell them as top shelf refills.....
The older stuff is cool too tho like the suitcase.....

Wonderful Dream..yeah 50 isnt too bad...this may not be on the subject but...ive been diggin and experimenting for a good while now on trying search and or create some combinator patches that would emulated "the sound" (as close as possible) to some pieces of gear. If im confusing you, what i mean is..everyone talks about "the sound" of the MPC, "the sound" of the ASR 10, "the sound" of the SP1200

And people tell me.."you just need to tweak this to create a bit cruncher type effect", but thats not entirely true....my BEST example would be...the experts have tested and judged the Waves SSL 4000 plugs..and 99.9% of the people say "they sound AMAZING, almost exactly like the analog board"...so..i guess thats what i mean by making combinators that emulate "the sound" of certain vintage gear, like the MPC, ASR 10, SP 1200 etc etc...

hope i didnt ramble....but please proceed with your idea...id buy em in a second!

Well that may be difficult, and it would depend on what MPC for exaple the MPC60 is 12bit and the MPC2000 is 16. I have actually been playing with this idea in Reason using the bit crusher in Scream as well as compression and eq. It is actually the AD/DA converters that give the SP/MPC allot of its vibe. The MPC groove template in reason 4 also helps. I will kick this one around. BTW the first synth I am working on will be the Dark Star

of course there will be an illmuzik discount. What do you guys think?

I'm not a hardcore Reason user but anything from the earlier Access Virus series of synths. Like the Virus KB if you can get a hold of one. I think it came out in 2000. Is that old enough?

Someone said a Prophet 08 multisampled...I'd pay $200 for that one...most others I'd probably want to pay between 50-100 dollars depending on what it was.

This is not far from being an excellent idea. Alot rides on how you do it I would think. Would you simply run the raw sound through high-quality converters and call it a day or would you add your own touch to them, like run it through a dbx 160 then through an ssl console? <---not meant to be a real question, just something i was thinking.

Yeah Dream, i would say that 50 bucks for top notch samples of the real thing would be pretty awesome assuming there is at least a small variety on the disc of different instruments/synths - that way your not paying 50 bucks for just one instrument.

Some basses would be proper tho no doubt.

The DarkStar synth looks cool but i admit ive never heard one before, was it a popular one?

Dude whats good with getting some samples off that old Realistic MG-1 tho!?....That would be money bro.
