If this is in the wrong section, please move it, didn't know where it should go.

Anyways, I have a very basic setup coming together and need a bit of help I believe. List is below...

1) Older computer (Couple years)
2) Trigger Finger (M-Audio)
3) OLD Midi Keyboard I am hoping works
4) Ableton Live 7
5) Cool Edit Pro 2
6) Fruity Loops
7) Hopefully a little TT1100USB turntable for samples off vinyl.

I don't use cool edit much, but I don't know anything about it....same with Live. FL I have the most knowledge with, but hardly any.

Regardless of software knowledge, I need to know if I need any external pieces for it to all work together. They are all able to be connected via USB, but is it going to work well enough for me this way? I see guys with mixers and soundcards and audio interfaces, but noone will tell me if i'm good to go or not. They say to read up on midi...which I am doing...but I still need to know how to hook up my stuff to get started. Something to work off of and build up better.

Can anyone give me an "ideal" way of running all this together?

For just starting I would say you have a good start. Over time you will feel the force of BUY BUY BUY more and more stuff. Overall work with what you have if you get out of the box creative then invest in something that will suit your needs.

All of it should run into your PC via USB just fine.

word, appreciate the advice. I will try and do a little something here this little bit and post up. Luckily my buddy knows quite a bit about music theory and has been in talks about working together so I can pick his brain on that realm of things. I (think) have a good ear for what sounds good, it's just a matter of getting it down :) I'm motivated like crazy to get in and mess around.

Homie this is the way i'm set up
I have a focusrite sapphire runs by firewire
outputs to main input in computer...
Old yamaha keyboard midi into focusrite....
Fruity loops can be set up to run off that if you set it up in preferences....
U could connect your keyboard via USB...and pray that it auto downloads the drivers for it..if not ur stuck but u could get one for under 100 bucks...U can actually play notes on Fruity Loops on your cpu keyboard too man...i do it sometimes...at any rate see if that works for you...

oh so the midi keyboard gotta have a disc to match it up with the computer? doubt it has all that. This keyboard is at least 7 years old, if not older. Really just wanted it as a controller for whatever I am wanting to use in FL Studio, but if not....may have to see what I can do for a little 49 or 61 key unit.

it might need one..u maybe can plug it into ur USB and it might download the drivers automatically...it might....u have to check it out

My keyboard is a big bulky shitty Casio, but the important thing is its midi out and has 5 Octaves for 2 handed play.
If your keyboard has USB id assume it has midi capability, but not necessarily.
If you need drivers for it, go to the manufacturers website, that should be the first port of call for any hardware drivers. I use my old keyboard using the basic "generic midi device" setup in reason. I dont know how you would do it in FL, Im sure someone could help you there.

Learning each bit of software is the biggest challenge. You have to have some understanding of the software to get it all hooked up and working together. You need to find out where those options are in each software.
Im sure you can "Rewire" Fl into Ableton. You need to have Ableton as the master DAW and then "Rewire" FL into it.
Use Cool Edit on its own at first to chop up samples, then import the chops into either FL or straight in Ableton then get creative.
