FOR MASTERING T-REX
NUENDO ALSO HAS A GREAT MASTERING PLUG-IN IN IT
PROTOOLS IS COOL
YOU CANT MASTER ON REASON
THERE IS ALSO A FINALIZER THAT YOU CAN GET (BUT ITS OUT BOARD GEAR)

IF YOU ARE GOING TO START RECORDING ON YOUR COMPUTER HERES A FEW POINTERS:

1) BUILD YOUR SELF A COMPUTER. WHY? ITS CHEEPER THAN BUYING A DELL OR COMPAQ. MOST RECORDING PROGRAMS CONFLICT WITH OTHER PROGRAMS THAT ARE NOT MUSIC BASED

2) MAKE YOUR COMPUTER STRICTLY FOR MUSIC

3)IF YOU HAVE $1599.99 LOOK INTO BUYING A MUSIC XPC MUSIC COMPUTER. ITS MADE BY MICROSOFT AND WAY DESIGNED FOR PROFESIONAL AUDIO RECORDING.

4) YOUR GONNA NEED A GOOD SOUND CARD ( THE ONE IN YOUR COMPUTER WILL NOT GIVE YOU A GOOD ENOUGH SOUND TO RECORD FROM)

5) THE TASCAM FW1884 FIREWIRE AUDIO/MID I/O AND CONTROL SURFACE FOR $ 1299.99 THIS A IS A SOUND CARD AND CONTROLLER IN ONE (IT CAN WORK WITH CUBASE, PROTOOLS, NUENDO, DIGITAL PERFORMER, SONAR AND MORE)

6) MY SUGGESTION TS TO GET NUENDO 2 AND NOT PROTOOLS TDM BECAUSE TDM IS LIMITED TO 32 TRACKS WHILE REASON IS UNLIMITED IF YOUR COMPUTER CAN SUPORT IT (THE LE VERSION OF PROTOOLS CAN SUPORTMORE THAN 32 TRACKS BUT FOR EVERY 8 TRACKS YOU HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER INTERFACE $3000 EACH)

IM JUST THROWING OUT IDEAS TO YOU

Well I use reason right now and in reason you can do everything yoiiu could in an mpc. You can lay down your audio tracks in a sequencer, program drums, bass. It has built in samplers you can load in your own samples into, there is synts you can make sounds with to, and you can control all of it thr0ough your midi keyboard. If you use reason you should get recycle too. Its basically a program that you can load up your samples and chop them up pretty precisely and then from there you can load up your chopped up samples into reason. The only thing is if you are trying to sample from a turntable reason cant record it, so you will need a basic waveform editor program to record onto. I use soundforge and its pretty easy to use. As far as a soundcard goes yeah if you want some perfect quality stuff and you have to money go out and buy a expensive ass one, but if you are broke like me you can pick one up for 200 or less and you will be able to plug in all yourstuff to your comp. If you are just starting out you probably dont need a profesional soundcard.
Protools is more of a mastering program. You dont have any samplers or anything you load up your loops then sequence it and master it. Though in the new version of protools you can record into it from your midi keyboard. You can also record straigt from a mic onto this program while in reason you cant. Soundforge you can. Hopefully this helps out a lil bit.
