MPD32 to MPC1000

I have the MPC1000 and thinking about getting the MPD32.
I know the 32 plugs to your common DAW, but does anyone know if I could hook it up to my MPC1000 instead of a DAW on my laptop. (MPC to MPD)

I want to be able to freak the tracks live with the MPD32 right off my MPC1000 (like you would do with the tracks on a laptops DAW software)

is this possible? experience in this anyone?

yeah that works, midi out to midi in on the mpc, though track mute wont work that way, the mpd will only send note data.

do you mean i will not be able to mute tracks using the MPD? (so a track playing from the mpc gets muted using the mpd)

exactly, the mpc doesnt allow to control its functions over midi so track mutes still have to be done on the mpc's own pads. The mpd will just trigger notes.

i see, are the 8 sliders on the mpd also out the question or do they have control over the mpc?

yup, out of the question, you could use it for note messages but thats all.
