For the past year I have been debating on whether to get the MPC or ASR. I have been using groove boxes and cheap samplers and I'm trying to upgrade. From my research the MPC has a better sequencer and the ASR has a better sampler. I need to know which one has the overall bang for your buck? I've heard that the ASR's sequencer sucks, but *HOW BAD IS IT*? Also if someone is selling either one let me know. If someone can answer any one of my questions please help me out.

I'm not an expert at all just my two cents, but the ASR-X Pro does include some onboard sounds and has some pretty good drum kits. Regarding the ASR-X Pro sequencer, I haven't heard anything bad about it myself, one of my partners who is a guru on the MPC 2000XL now uses the ASR-X Pro and he makes some nice shit off of it. I would list both together in a spreadsheet or something of the sort and compare the features. Most Hip-Hop heads will tell you to cop the MPC though which is the average Hip-Hop producer's Sampler/Sequencer machine of choice. Good luck in your decision!

The mpc has The better sequencer than the asr-x from using it the asr has the better sampler and the fact that it has on board sounds is good...If you're an orginal producer far as not sampling the asr is good for both sampling and from scratch but the sequencer and the other features on the mpc make it a better machine for production but they do work well together my two cousin used them both together for a few years

i jus got am asr x pro.... the reason i like this machine is the fact you can sample while it's playing.. no mpc can do this....
so what i do... is build my sequence on the mpc... and sync the asr with the mpc's(cuz i got a 2000xl/3000 now) and sample into the asr to add my fills....
great for recprding... my juno... or microkorg......

but if you have 2 make a choice... go with the 2000xl... best all around mpc.. fact
