Midi out doesnt produce sound

When i try to use the midi out channel and use one of the preset channels i cant get any sound. when i press a key it recognizes it but i dont get any sound. anyone have any ideas? oh yea im running fl 4.

check the device settings on FL

all the settings seem to be fine, it worked fine but then i reformatted my hard drive. ever since the new install it hasnt worked, could this be a plug-in problem?

I thought the MIDI out was for external gear? At least when i played around with FL thats what i did. Maybe im wrong since i dont really use it.

midi out is for sending a signal from the software to external gear, that is absolutely correct, also if you use it you need make sure that your audio inputs are visible in fruity loops and you have your output from your gear plugged in so you can hear it in Fruity loops and record.......also sometimes the port needs to be set to 0 instead of -- try that...hopefull the midi out channel corresponds to the active one on the gear you should be able to hear your sound if thats set up.
