Midi in Fruity Loops problem

ill o.g.
This may be really simple, but I'm a baby at this stuff so bear with me. I'm trying to play out and compose with wav samples in fruity loops. I'm using an old casio keyboard and a midi/usb uno cord. I have the midi in cord in the midi out slot of my keyboard and vice versa. I check my control panel and go into sound to make sure my midi music playback is on Out USB Midi 1x1, it is. I go into FL and set the output port mapping to USB Midi, the master sync output to USB midi, and the remote input to USB midi. But when I press a key the midi light isn't flashing and nothing is playing out. My computer keyboard can play the sounds out, but the midi keyboard I have hooked up to my comp isn't working. Anything I'm missing here?

Yo I had that same problem when working with FL...When I used my Casio keyboard, it wouldn't work unless I turned on the keyboard before opening FL, but when I used my MAudio Keystation, it wouldn't work unles I turned the keyoard on while in FL...Wierd huh?

- ensure that the midi keyboard is on the same channel as your MIDI Out in FL

- make sure that "enable MIDI remote control" and "enable MIDI Output" are checked under the options menu

-follow your setup instructions from the beginning again with your manual

- if your registered, check out their video tutorial "hooking up midi controllers/keyboard to FL"

one of these SHOULD help. trust me, I've been a professional producer for 2 years and have mastered every peice of equipment known to man and don't read anymore of my bullshit lies because there's more where they came from and...

no, really... those steps should help, if you haven't already tried them.
