wow, love the hate here.

people forget the far reaches and influence of music..

he isnt talking jamaican, he is a reggae artist, which is a jamaican art form and therefore the jamaican "accent"... it isnt reggae without that, you knnow. that new york/boston thing makes zero sense. by your rule, anyone who isnt jamaican couldnt do reggae. if thats the case, all races should stay within the restriced confines of the music that their skin color predominately creates.

also, what about every non black who does hip hop? you arent black. also, why wish bad things to happen to an artist who makes, positive, uplifting music? just because you arenht feeling someone is no reason to wish bad things upon them.

it would be different if he were from Jamaica, of course he would have a natural accent and he wouldnt be frontin

I dont think its comparable to say, someone white doing hip-hop cuz for instance eminem he is nice lyrically but he doesnt sound like he's trying to sound like anything other than himself, then u have other white rappers that grew up in a slang speaking area so they dont sound like they tryin to rap black or whatever cuz in that case its how they speak too...i.e. Paul Wall, u can tell he's not tryin to talk the way he talks, its a part of who he is

it just sounds crazy when u have someone trying hard to sound like something they're not, it sounds fake

just like a country person trying to rap like they from the North or better yet a black person from the suburbs tryin to rap like they from the hood

unless they spent that time there, then they fakin it

I dont have anything against anyone doing any type of music, but being yourself is the key to not playin ya self

im not sayin he or any other white person cant do raggae, just use yur own fuckin voice and yur own way of speech and your own vocabulary and your own accent, him talking like hes from somwhere else is EXACTLY like as if it was me talking like im from new york. same thing goes for hip hop as far as im concerned, why change yur voice to sound like sumthin yur not, bring your own voice and yur own culture into hip hop, fuck u need to imitate sum1 for. hip hop has many accents in it ,why cant raggae, why this dude gutta front. its not the fact that i aint feelin his music that i want him to be beat up (which i was bein scarcastic about anyway) but the fact that hes a poser and makin a living off it.

still misisng it, i take it

its REGGAE.

that ACCENT is CENTRAL to the reggae sound

it isnt reggae OTHERWISE

how hard is that to grasp

now if he were trying to talk that way, thats one thing. if he was up in his interviews like,

"yeh we run tings rude bwoy"

then i could see your point...

so if i did a reggae song with the reggae accent, that would make me a poser since im not jamaican, right?

so if thats the case, then you ARE SAYING that non-jamaicans shouldnt do reggae.

exactly, it would be an imitation, or fake, or posing unless that is your REAL accent that you speak in

No I'm not saying that, a non-jamaican can do reggae

there are people who were not born in Jamaica that have a jamaican accent when they speak

I can walk, talk, act, and look like a millionaire, but if I dont have a million dollars then I'm FAKING, FRONTING, BEING AN IMPOSTER, OR POSING

There are alot of Jamaican artists who didn't over emphasize patois when singing, like Jackie Edwards, Delroy Wilson, Alton Ellis, Ken Boothe.. even some of the early dance hall deejays and singjays..

I do listen to a lot of reggae and I really dont think you NEED to have an accent to do reggae. Of course, most reggae artists are jamaicans so they do have the accent, but that dont mean you need to use it to make a reggae song.

Like you dont need to use the hiphop slang to make a hiphop song. Most rappers do, but it aint a rule.

Like you dont need to have a southern accent to make country. Most country artist do, but it aint a rule...

and I could go on an on an on...
