I picked this album up at the same time as the El Rego LP. Lee Fields is a talented singer, some would say a protege of James Brown who never really quite peaked. He put out some material in the 1970's, but these were put out in small numbers, and are now sought after by collectors. In 2002 he put together an LP on the Soul Fire label from New York that replicates that 70's sound. He is still active today, and has put out material on a few different labels, including Dapton, Truth & Soul, and Soul Fire. Lee sounds amazing on this album, and I can definitely recommend it to any fan of soul and/or funk.
