Anyone see that article on him in the Source?

This guy did the beat for Izzo on the Blueprint. He said that earlier this year he was selling tracks for $500 a piece. Now he sells them for $30,000.

See what happens when you get a few hits under your belt? Lucky bastard!

This dude who used to work at a local record shop sold a few big money beats (he hung around Jay Dee and crew) and quit his job. He said he made double his yearly record store pay just by selling two beats. Now he just hits up vinyl spots, hangs out, and dedicates the majority of his time to making beats. All it takes is one break (pun intended).

Deep beats and deep crates,

Man that's crazy! I always see it as its who ya know. Some cats work they ass off to succeed and they dont get shit cause they dont know the right people.

But that's good to see that dreams can still be made.

Kanye is ill, the whole Bassline Studio production team especially Just Blaze and Kanye have the "up and coming" stranglehold on tracks.

Guys - how much money can we make at this?!?!!?!?!?

A LOT!

I charge $300 per track for all of the local artists in Nashville
$500 if I know you got the money for it!

But I want the $20,000 a track and 2% money.

:lick:

30,000 is nothin compared to 100,000 beat!

DRE....Timberland...Swiss charged that much before!

You gotta promote your sound man.....if your lookin for that kind of money. Give everybody a copy of your joints....

A little funny side note:

Manny Fresh, Swizz and Dre all were charging/charge over the $100K mark.

Dr. Dre though apparently isn't all about the money - if he thinks what you did with the song is garbage - he'll give you your $100K back and take his track back.

Hmmm - would I do this...?

not really. the artist hads to pay bak everyone and their mama before they see a profit for themselves, plus most producers keep their publishing and royalties from the track, and on top of that consider producers who work with multiple artsts throughout the year. if you just sell them for, on the low end anyways, 5000 a piece, and you got regular work and do like 20 tracks in a year.. besides that if you got that many and they are all gettin some type of play/publicity, chances are if you have even a modest hit somewhere in the mix you will be getting offered much more than that.. the artist has to do all the touring, promoting, appearances and signings and all that, while we sit on our butts and make beats and school the next generation of illmuzik members!!!!! dont forget branching out to do soundtracks, commercials, video games.... we have way more manuverabiity than the mc does.
