I don't know, but I think there are some female beatmakers on here. They just haven't posted yet.

It's interesting though, because there are female MC's and a few female DJ's, but when it comes to production it's weird. I know there's quite a few of female recording engineers, so to me it would seem right to have some producers too.

My producer partner met a Norwegian girl, residing in London, on holiday in Copenhagen, who produced...and that's the only female producer I've heard of...but I would like to meet a female producer...actually...it would be cool to date one. Imagine if both had the interest...no need to explain and apoligise any more for spending to much time doing your thing...I just wouldn't be that cool if she was doper than dope.

lol, copenhagen that would be more than just nice. take her out on a date to your favorite sample digging spot, give her a midikeyboard for christmas, stop watching retarded romantic dvds, but listen to old classic 12" etc.
there´s a german rapper named kool savas, who has made it pretty big over here with battle rap. his girlfriend, who goes by the name of melbeatz, has been producing most of his album (featuring kurupt and others). some love her beats, some don´t. i´d say she´s okay. apart from that i haven´t heard of too many female producers. this is not supposed to be macho or anything else, but some female rapper told me she´d like to get into producing but the technical part of it is scaring her and I believe her...

That's exactly what I'm talking about. The kind of girl who didn't boo you when you sat down in front of the pc to make a beat after sex...but applauded it and started digging for a sample you could use...

I think I'm in love with an imaginary girl...:sob:

hehe. she´d understand that i am 3 hours late because i had to finish this beat and that there was no way i could have done that some other day because i would have lost the feeling and the ideas i had back then. she´d not ask me what the fuck i was thinking, but ask if she could listen to that beat.
she´d ask me to turn up the volume, not complain about myself making weird noises when we´re watching tv and they have a nice melody that makes me beatbox, but do the bassline and scratching part since i am not rahzel and can´t do that at the same time.
she´d go out with an md recorder and a mic and sample those sfx for me that i desperately need for my current tracks.
she would not tell me to look for useless stuff on ebay, but to see if i can get her a cheap mpc. And I would be sooo openminded and tolerant that I would not care if she´d paint it purple with hearts on it.
she´d have a decent setup so that I can make music even if i am at her house.
she would not be pissed if i flirt with other girls (there wouldn´t be a reason though), but give me a serious beat down if I re-use one of her best samples. ..
we would not be arguing over small meaningless issue, but get into serious fights about hardware vs. software and if premo is still any good...
if anyone on this board has such a girlfriend you should better not mention it. the prices for plane tickets are constantly dropping ...

just kidding. ;-)

haha, especially when you probably don't need a passport
to travel within the european union, i'm probably taking too
big a risk revealing that my significant other matches those
terms partially. at one record fair she was pulling out mad stuff
out of the crates for me and when she was working as an
au pair in MA she brought some stuff (although pretty basic,
gap band etc -- but she's progressed since then) for me.
and just recently she dragged me to her local library where
she told me she found some grover washington jr and
eero koivistoinen. hasn't really gotten into the whole beatmaking
stuff yet but i'm working on it ... haha. for real tho, i catch her
all the time banging on the pads of my mpc when she thinks
i'm not looking. i think it's pretty much true that the technical
nature of beatmaking makes it pretty inaccessible for most females.
just like many girls love driving cars et cetera, few are going to
look under the hood and get their hands dirty.

producing is an art practiced by many people male and female but im sure that by far there are more male than female producers but that plays no part in skills.....cause if God made me a female i would still be hot when it comes to beats! holla back

First of all Inrctyhoodmusic i sent ya a pm while back to break bread with ya but i guest it didnt work(oh well anyways). I feel its a male thing cause of the way we look at or take part in music. its something that can be tuff or soft but most of us who do know how to really play make tuff music so to say. I think girls get into other things like writing cause its a side of them that they are willing to put out there before a man his. I mean how many of yall have just ever wanna to be a song writer first before anything else. Some girls do just like us men want to bang out beats....its just how we all look at the music.

Yo! Missy Elliot is an ill producer. But yeah, hip-hop production is dominated by males for sure. I think it is because; eventhough, hip-hop/rap is breaking down barriers every where, it has yet to break down the barrier of females wanting or being pressured to be cutesie. Hip-hop is raw and griitty. You have to be somewhat grimey to be into hip-hop. Especially when it comes to attending shows, bustin flows, and layin down how the beat goes. Once society eases up on what females should or should not do, then we will have a shortage of female productionists. Besides, it takes a special person to make tight beats, whether male or female.

let's face it...producing takes creativity and brains..most women lack both..but don't blame them blame society who constently pushes the images of women as being visual objects..thus they concentrate on their image and not building there minds...i've met lots of intellegent women but they are still obsessed with their looks giving em less time to be creative in a productive way...but in societies' eyes they are being productive...looking good so they can be implanted with sperm and "further" the survival of the species.
