Im lookin 2 invest in sum hardware

aight, ive decided i gota get me a keyboard. im tired of havin 2 use da skool's grand piano 4 practice. ive dun sum research n i run in2 da triton le and da pa80, i also popped in2 a music shop n i had a demo, all i cud say was damn!!!!!!!!!!!! da workstations r amazin, n da sounds on dem r sikkk.
da sound bank is huge 2. i mean i cud use dis ting 2 do ma beatz on it, i cud jus use it alone, n not hav 2 load up da pc everytime, wit ma bust up monitor dat keep switchin off evry half hour. ne way i was really impressed wit da keyboard, i mean i can jus wrk on dis, n plus u can hav it in 61 keys or 88!
now da price scared me tho, lol, dey was comin in at roun £1200 n £1800. gosh where am i gona get all dat do.. ima jus start sellin beatz n hustle. da way i c it, i'll b investin in a gd piece of hardware, n ma product will b of higher quality. wat do yall tink.

Afrique from looking at the primitive setup you had and the magic you work with it, you can only step to a higher level with some better gear, if you want to be that platinum producer get a good piece if you get a keyboard instead of an akai or asr x, get one with a good sampler, I don't care what you hear about using the software, it's great for ideas and all of that but I have been to quite a few panels of platinum producers, like Kanye, Havoc, Dr period, Rockwilder, RZA all live in person and I could go on and on have been at events where they discussed their techniques (of course they wouldn't give all their secrets)......they all are unanimous yes some might use some software based track production a very, very small percentage of the time but ....GET GOOD HARDWARE...and you cannot go wrong if you want to be a pro, get something portable that you can even remove from the studio if you go to a bigger one to get them to do enginineering or you want to have an artist meet up with you....ask Fade I am sure he would be willing to donate to you getting a good piece or taking up a collection....

yeh, i 4got 2 mention dis pa80 had a sampler in it 2, i cud jus hook up a drum pad n punch in da drumz/samples wit it instead of presin da keys. im jus gna start hustlin these beatz all ova birmingham n uk,min £100 a piece(plus i aint gna b pushin rubish beatz, only da best), aint sure bout da net, it seems pretty dodgy 2 me sellin beatz online. but yeh, im pretty sure dis is da machine 4 me, i had a go at usin it at da shop n its jus amazin.

Hey afrique I've just been listening to your beats on the battle that comp, and yours were tight!!

About the hardware, if your on a budget I would definitely reccomend looking into the second hand market. You can pick up some awesome bargains. Was that £1200 for triton LE?

I've seen them first hand for way cheaper than that. Also check out future music magazine, there's quite a few add's in there too

y don't you just get a "Roland mc-909" it's a good sampler w/ good fx, the sounds aren't anything to write home about, but it has a slot for installing the roland srx expansion boards...and anybody who knows anything knows that these boards have fantastic (professional) sounds. It will cost u less than a triton or a phantom or motif...you can get one used for around $1k-12k. I don't see y this wouldn't be ur #1 choice. it has USB as well!!!
I would've gotten 1, but I went for the RS7k instead...much cheaper.
(oh yeah, and just get a good midi keyboard to go w/ it!)

Hey, Noace im pickin up an RS7000 this sunday. Are they good for hip-hop? I've heard the presets on it suck, but that don't matter because I probably wasn't gonna use them anyway.

^yes, it is great for hip-hop. Once your use to it, and know how to use it to it's full potentiall, you can pretty much get anything you want out of it as far as the effects go. It's a kick ass machine for many styles, but like I said, it does wonders 4 hip-hop. You can sound grimmy(ala RZA) or clean and punchy(ala DRE)
and yes, the onboard sounds are nothing special, but it does have good basses(no decent sine) and good drums. But who cares, it's a sampler...you want good sounds get a proteus or some shit.

my only problem is w/ the 64mb internal sample memory...i tend to reach the max a lot, but this is only because I load up my whole drum library each time to have them accessible. I'm just lazy I guess. Filters are fuckin sick. I use lowpass on my drums a lot(gets them more grimmy) I would highly recommend picking up a SCSI drive, you don't want to fuck w/ smartmedia cards...they hold nothing. I got a 10gb SCSI for $20, and I can load and save all my shit on the fly(no fucking disks too worry about)

anyway, yes Go 4 it. Nothing beats it in the price range and yamaha always makes quality shit. Good luck...PEACE
