ok this is my first attempt at trying to educate cats lol. this might only be for beginners

anyway, heres what i found out (while analysing the shape and pattern of a bass wave form)

^^^^^^^^^^^^^
pretend this is the waveform of your sample. because of the triangle shape, it would be hard to make a smooth loop of this sound so that it played continuously, without a pulse or click, like a keyboard (or whatever instrument the sample is)

TO FIX THIS.......
{
{ {
{ { {
{ { { { { { { { { { { { { {
{ { { { { { { { { { { { { {
{ { {

^^^^^^^^^^^^
copy and paste the last part of the sample (or whichever part you want to loop) next to itself many times. instead of looping the last part of the sample and getting a high pitch squeel/ring, you will be looping many copies of the last part of the sample. this gives a smoother effect, as if the original note was continuously being sounded. this gets rid of the pulse

to get rid of the clicks, simply make sure the "ends" of the sample are looped at the same relative spots at the lowest frequency points.

great care and precision must be taken for this to work perfectly

Very good tip! Another way (that I like to use) is to add a short delay to the sound, most of the time it's barely noticeable and when it's blended with the rest of the tracks, it sounds like a long note being played.

ahhh thats a good idea about using delay. i didnt think of that. off i go to try it out....

yeah you could....but this trick works for ANY sound. so if you have a sound that doesnt even come from an instrument, you can make it constant. bass was just an example

^ actually

it wouldn't work as well w/ an acoustic instrument, because non-electrically produced sounds don't conform to the shape of a sin, sinusoid or triangle wave...
