When you have a concept of what your whole style/production-uniqueness is, how well can you express the concept to how you invisioned it? from.. lets say 0-100%

i feel that only my writting abilities are up to my visions to 83%. But my vocal delivery, ability to make 'hiphop' genre productions, and tie it all together in a way that the listener understands are all lacking. I feel that i need to let time pass so that i can gain experience in these aspects before i represent what Chrono T is all about. How long have you been involved in your craft and what are your percentages?

The soul, spirt, heart, where it all comes from.

thx seoul, though my problem is lack of technical and musical experience. everyday i am getting better but i really got into production late in my hiphop history(life). my Soul, Spirit, and Heart are some of the main reasons why i need to get better to thranslate them with grace and respect towards them. i want it now.. but chhaaa kno'

How long would you marinate a piece of chicken???? naw but on the real its all on your palate, your taste.....some people have a distinct style only over time, its not something that you gonna just instantly have in a year, 2 years or 3....I mean also its for the application some underground producers have the opportunity to develop their style and put it out on albums like 9th, his style is unique yet adapted based on and yet paying hommage to the old Skool and not trying to deviate from it the primary elements but still be unique with his signature sound...on purpose..some people criticize his snares and other miniscule things...but his presentation and style is his own and keeping with old skool at the same time.........now tell me this what is your aim?....do you just want to be so unique your style is underground???? reason I am asking is this, the question posed to me most often is ......who is your production for?.........what artist do you envsion on the track?....who can you hear on it......without that kind of focus you are just making music.....nothing wrong with that but its hard to frame a complete work with just the pallete.....you need the other half your song to assist you in fully developing the style you got or else you just another out of the millions of hot instrumentalists now........producers and those aspiring are a dime a dozen you have to market yourself and your style as a total package and have artists to reference your instrumentals, that is artists that can take your ideas and help you to present them to a label and market it......its not always about a listening session or someone hearing your beats you need a package and some stuff thats completed along with your instrumentals and catalogue too......so how long do you marinate.....its all on what you cooking up.......a full course meal or a snack......that will answer your question.

I dont think I really need to define myself with a specific style. I mean, I like to be versatile and try out different things. Of course, I know that, the more I make beats, the more my beats have a distinct feel about them, but I'm not aiming for that... I'm aiming for quality, not style.

I want to have better sound, effects, composition, concept, but not style. I think aiming for 1 particular style is limiting... and to me, the reason Timbo, Dr Dre, Pete Rock... have distint style is not becaus they aimed for one, but because it's their beats, it's part of them... Its the same thing as your writing... it's recognisable because you did it and you dont write as somebody else...

thanks trax! I mainly want to focus on producing for myself but my productions are too out of control for me to be satisfied. My aim is to have total control of my productions based on my taste, but always find that my productions fall short of my vision. I need more time and focus for myself it seems. everytime i get into reason i learn new things about my production so i need to stop being concerned about the present and just do my thang. thanks everyone, hopefully one day i can share something with yall that makes you go daammn

peace
