:headbang: ok, ok. i bought my mpc used, no instructions, and it's an 2000 (not an xl) i have a roland xp 80 that i am selling so i can buy a korg dps 12 and 8 outputs for the mpc so can actually do a stereo mix. i plan on working with solely with samples for the time being, and then i intend to get a soundmodule and keyboard controller. so the question here is, how do i use midi to sequence and play back several different sounds using my mpc? i tried to get that to work when i had the xp 30 which loved, but i couldnt and so bought the xp 80. i am considering a triton rack module for this. any suggestions?

Get yourself a midi controler (keyboard type), and connects its midi output to the mpc in on midi channel a. Then take your mpc midi channel a, and run that to the in put on your sound module. Then you control nyour sound module from the main screen, using your tracks. for example, you would assign track one as MIDI instead of DRUM, and then you would select your midi chanel (1-16). You can download a manual for the MP from www.akaipro.com It helps if you dont know all the capabilities of your MP. You should get yourself the effex card first if your doing mostly samples. Your sound will be 100 times better than just dry samples, beleive me.
